Castell de Torre Baró
Unfinished architecture, urban memory.
Perched on a Collserola ridge, Castell de Torre Baró stands as a visible landmark in the Nou Barris district. Construction began in 1905 with a medieval-inspired design, originally planned as a central hotel for an unfinished urban development. This fortified-looking building never served its original purpose; instead, it became an anti-aircraft watchtower during the Civil War. Rehabilitated and opened to the public in 2014, it now functions as an environmental education center for Parc de Collserola and a hub for recovering the neighborhood's historical memory. It offers panoramic views over Barcelona and its metropolitan area.
