If photography means facing what offers no solace, Alberto García-Alix’s (León, 1956) work is an intense visual narrative. A fragmented autobiography: time, body, desire, loss, death. Unfiltered, devoid of aesthetic alibis.
His black and white: dense, contrasted, almost tactile. Not an aesthetic choice, but an ethical stance. A space of gravity where light cuts sharp, shadow offers refuge. Portraits, self-portraits, objects imbued with symbolism.
The body, a territory of memory and confrontation. Marks, vulnerability, exposed wounds. García-Alix photographs from within, without condescension. He embraces the gaze as an act of truth. In the Liceu’s Saló dels Miralls, a selection reveals the rawness of his work. A fixed instant, a space of silence inviting you to hold the gaze, to accept discomfort.
