The venue
Espai de Fotografia Francesc Català-Roca
Francesc Català-Roca: The city's photographic heartbeat.
Francesc Català-Roca (1922-1998), a central figure in Spanish documentary photography, captured the essence of post-war urban and rural life with a neorealist gaze. His vast archive, with over 200,000 negatives, prioritized the human element, light contrast, and unique perspectives, leaving a visual testimony of Catalonia and Spain. The Espai de Fotografia Francesc Català-Roca, at Carrer de Llança 21, perpetuates this legacy. Located in Eixample, this cultural hub facilitates the dissemination of the medium and the promotion of new proposals, solidifying its place as a benchmark for Barcelona's documentary photography.
