Antwerp Symphony, Hadelich, and the Visceral Pulse of Strauss and Bruch

Unfiltered orchestral music. Raw, visceral power.

CONCERTPREMIUMMODERNISM
  • From €27
  • Palau de la Música Catalana

The Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, led by March Albrecht, arrives in the city for an uncompromising evening. Acclaimed violinist Augustin Hadelich takes center stage in a program debuting L. de Vocht's dark 'In Ballingschap' in Spain. The night concludes with the passion of Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 and R. Strauss's dramatic pulse: 'Don Juan,' the ironies of 'Till Eulenspiegel,' and Salome's unsettling 'Dance of the Seven Veils.' An encounter with orchestral power.

The Planns tip

The venue

Palau de la Música Catalana

Nestled in Sant Pere, Ciutat Vella, the Palau de la Música Catalana stands as a Modernisme icon. Designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner (1905-1908) for the Orfeó Català choir, its iron and glass structure lets natural light flood an interior rich in mosaics, stained glass, and sculptures. It's a masterclass in applied art; every detail, from floral motifs to the sun-emulating skylight, crafts a unique sensory experience. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it's an unmissable cultural hub in the city.
