Disseny Hub Barcelona highlights Asunción Bastida Pibernat (1902–1995), a pivotal figure in 20th-century fashion. She was the sole woman among Spain's haute couture elite, often overshadowed by figures like Balenciaga or Pedro Rodríguez. This exhibition reclaims her legacy, placing her accurately within design history. Bastida's career navigated personal and professional hurdles. She launched a business in 1926, participated in the 1929 International Exhibition. She established her haute couture house on Gran Via, later at Passeig de Gràcia 96, Ramon Casas' former residence. A member of the 'Cinco Grandes', she secured Christian Dior's authorization, and pioneered prêt-à-porter lines like Asunción Bastida Sport and Jeunes Filles. The show gathers textile pieces, vintage photographs, original sketches. It includes documentary material, magazines, advertisements, and audiovisual archives. A collective narrative that reconstructs her vision, her influence, and the era's context.
