Barcelona has been named European Capital of Local Commerce for 2026. The first city to hold this recognition, a result of a unified bid from administrations and sector entities. An integrated proposal with a future vision.
The selection is based on four evaluation axes: commercial sustainability, support for entrepreneurship, digitalization, and city appeal. Barcelona as a mirror of best practices, driving a ◆ sustainable ◆ innovative ◆ resilient proximity model across all its neighborhoods.
Over a hundred activities will shape the annual program: trade fairs, themed markets, training workshops, exchanges with other cities. A driver for economic development, social cohesion, urban configuration. International projection alongside events like the Grand Départ of the Tour de France or the Mobile World Congress.
