The venue
Pla de la Seu
Gothic epicenter within Roman walls.
In the heart of the Barri Gòtic, Pla de la Seu stands as a layered testament to Barcelona's history. Its foundations lie over the ancient northern access of Roman Barcino, where a pre-Christian temple predated the edifice that defines it today. This space, once vital for medieval civic and religious life, is dominated by the Cathedral of Santa Creu i Santa Eulàlia. Built between the 13th and 15th centuries, its Neo-Gothic façade, completed in 1913, contrasts with the ancient cloister, dating back to 1448. Pla de la Seu remains a cultural hub, hosting the Mercat Gòtic and Sardana dances, creating a constant dialogue between the past and urban rhythm.
