THE VENUE
Founded in 1855, La Maquinista Terrestre i Marítima was a cornerstone of Catalan industrialization. Its Barceloneta workshops, operational since 1861, forged heavy machinery, locomotives, and naval structures, employing up to 1,200 people across 17,500 m². This complex, vital for Barcelona's port and rail development, ceased its main operations in the neighborhood by 1965. Today, essential vestiges remain in Plaza Pompeu Gener: the entrance arch, the gantry crane's skeleton, and a chimney – stark reminders of an industrial era that transformed the city.
