The exhibition "Club 49. Monitored Modernity (1949-1970)" is held at MORERA - Museu d'Art Modern i Contemporani de Lleida, located at Rambla de Ferran, 13. The show revisits the activities of Club 49, a key entity between 1949 and 1971 that drove over 500 cultural initiatives to keep artistic modernity alive during the Franco dictatorship. Heir to the spirit of ADLAN (1932-1936), Club 49 promoted disciplines such as classical music, jazz, painting, photography, and video. Through exhaustive research in public and private archives, the exhibition reconstructs some of its activities and highlights the inherent difficulties of preserving modern culture in a repressive context.
