Cristina Lucas (Jaén, 1973) articulates a reading of power, collective history, and the function of art. Her work investigates industrial revolutions since the 17th century, analyzing their Western origin and the reconfiguration of relations with the East and South. The exhibition is structured as a journey tracing four major transformations. The first stage, focused on coal, prompted the steam engine and urban migration. The second, dominated by oil, consolidated global capitalism and energy geopolitics. The third, linked to the digital paradigm, established data control. The fourth, marked by the convergence of the physical and virtual, introduces profound transformations in subjectivity, ethics, and the notion of humanity; a public, massive, hypervisual self. Lucas suggests that technical and economic progress is not neutral. Through methacrylate triptychs and materials like coal, oil, and microchips, she constructs a material narrative of history. The piece "El anciano de los días" (W. Blake) greets visitors with a steam pipe. The audiovisual installation "Cinturó de reacció en cadena" addresses a brief history of anthropocentrism. Fundació Ventós collaborates with olfactory essences, integrating the memory of revolution into a sensory experience.
