CaixaForum Macaya

White Modernism, social dialogue.

CaixaForum Macaya, located in the Dreta de l'Eixample, is a remarkable Modernista work by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, completed in 1901 as industrialist Romà Macaya's residence. Its uniquely white facade—a contrast to the architect's other Modernista creations—and its carriage-designed lobby define its entrance. Arched interiors and a capital depicting a cyclist detail its construction. Transformed into a cultural center, it now serves as a hub for analysis and reflection, recognized by UNESCO as an International Center for Social Sciences and Humanities, bridging architectural heritage with contemporary debate.
