The proposal brings together Rimsky-Korsakov with Shirin Neshat's vision and Gustavo Dudamel's direction. A meditation on the power of storytelling: the voice that persists as long as someone listens. One Thousand and One Nights as a metaphor for resistance, a pulse Rimsky-Korsakov captured in his symphonic poem.
SONIC TEXTURE, VISUAL LIGHT Dudamel weaves the orchestra into successive waves. The sensuality of the solo violin, the solemnity of the woodwinds, a relief evoking imagined ports, bursting storms, opening oases. This sonic discourse intensifies with Shirin Neshat's film. The artist, drawing from exile, identity, and silence, creates images that don't illustrate, but rather dialogue with the music: faces emerging from shadow, deserts breathing like blank pages, writings crossing the skin.
A coproduction by the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the New York Philharmonic. Music and image converge like two banks of the same river. Dudamel shapes a discourse with cinematic plasticity; Neshat weaves a poetics where body, gaze, and desert are metaphors for an ongoing struggle. Scheherazade thus resonates: a thread uniting us in uncertainty, an invitation to remember truth and beauty.
