El Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria occupies the old Born market, opened in 1876 as Barcelona's first major iron architecture structure. Beneath its roof lies an archaeological site preserving the streets and houses of the city as they were in 1700. A walk through the exposed remains reveals the urban layout as it stood before the changes following the 1714 siege.
The Planns tip
Entry is free, allowing access to metal walkways that circle the archaeological site at street level.
