The Mercat del Ninot officially opens its new Espai Cuina on October 8, 2026. Located in l'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample, this space aims to be a hub for promoting and celebrating local produce. The restaurant Disfrutar sponsors the initiative, with Eduard Xatruch giving a live showcooking demonstration. He will use fresh ingredients from the market stalls, highlighting the link between fine dining and local commerce. Attendance will be drawn by lottery among market customers, with tickets available until October 2.

THE VENUE
Nestled in Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample, Mercat Ninot goes beyond its market function. Its name harks back to the figurehead that, in the late 19th century, overlooked a local tavern—a social heart of the neighborhood. The iron structure, a listed Cultural Asset of Local Interest, dates to 1933, a work by Falguera and Vilaseca. The 2010-2015 renovation, led by Josep Lluís Mateo, preserved its original skeleton, with perforated slat facades regulating natural light. A two-story underground expansion for logistics and parking solidifies its urban and functional relevance.
