Observatori Fabra
Since 1904: science, modernism, and Barcelona's skies.
Opened in 1904, this masterpiece by architect Josep Domènech i Estapà sits atop Tibidabo, 415 meters above sea level. Owned by the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona, it was conceived as an astronomical, meteorological, and seismic center. Its eclectic architecture features a rotating metallic dome and a classical-inspired atrium with Neo-Egyptian columns. It's the world's fourth oldest observatory still in operation, dedicated to studying asteroids and comets. A landmark connecting scientific history with the urban landscape.
