Footprints of '36: The Civil War in Central Barcelona

'36 etched into Barcelona's urban skin.

GUIDED TOURIMMERSIVEHERITAGE
Espai de Gent Gran Fort Pienc

An itinerary through the Civil War's traces in central Barcelona. Explore the streets and buildings that were key settings of the 1936 conflict. A dive into urban memory, revealing scars and history hidden beneath the city's asphalt.

The Planns tip

Look for shrapnel marks on the façade of Sant Felip Neri church; the impact is more visible on the lower stone blocks.

THE VENUE

Located in Plaça de Fort Pienc, the Espai de Gent Gran is part of the Illa de Fort Pienc, a civic facility complex designed by architect Josep Llinàs. This space, born from urban redevelopment on former industrial factory land, forms a social node in the heart of the Eixample district. It offers the senior community activities beyond leisure, from graphology workshops to cultural routes, energizing local life and fostering intergenerational and cultural integration within a contemporary design setting.
