Frederic Amat — The Trace That Erupts

Image, color, gesture. Liceu as canvas.

  • Gran Teatre del Liceu

CONTEXT Frederic Amat (Barcelona, 1952) showcases his work at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Painter, set designer, filmmaker; his trajectory explores language, gesture, and image. His approach sits between the performative, the relational, the intuitive. THE WORK An open field of experimentation: drawing, painting, object. Color, dense and visceral, builds emotional atmospheres. The stroke doesn't describe; it ruptures, a physical necessity. Each gesture is the trace of a precise action. THE INTERVENTION The Liceu's Saló dels Miralls hosts a dialogue with the venue's scenic memory. Amat's work, in conversation with John Cage's Ryoan-ji, activates reflections, shadows, and theatrical dimensions. Image as action, color as voice. Art as a live event.
