Mercat Llibertat
Gràcia: wrought iron, vital Modernism since 1888.
Inaugurated in 1893, Mercat Llibertat stands in Vila de Gràcia as a landmark of Catalan Modernist architecture. Designed by Miquel Pascual Tintorer, with decorative input from Gaudí's collaborator Francesc Berenguer, its structure blends wrought iron and exposed brick, crowned by a glazed ceramic roof and a Modernist shield. Built in 1888, when Gràcia was an independent municipality, the market remains a central hub for commerce and community, recognized as a Local Cultural Heritage Asset. Renovated in 2009, it retains its authenticity, a tangible reflection of the neighborhood's history.
