THE VENUE
The Sarrià Cemetery, an urban monument in Les Tres Torres, holds the memory of the former municipality of Sarrià, annexed to Barcelona in 1921. Established in 1849, with the first burials in 1835 and the enclosure built under Francesc Renart i Arús's project, it retains the scale of a rural necropolis amidst the city's expansion. Its intimate and reduced character sets it apart from other Barcelona sites, encouraging quiet reflection. Here lie figures such as poets Carles Riba and Clementina Arderiu — whose tomb features a relief by sculptor Joan Rebull — and urban planner Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí. Its discreet location inspired passages in Carlos Ruiz Zafón's novel "Marina", solidifying its cultural footprint in Barcelona.
