Explore how the International Brigades forged a unique identity during the Spanish Civil War. This exhibition, the result of research by Ramon Naya Ortega and Lourdes Prades Artigas (Universitat de Barcelona), unveils the coexistence and survival of a multilingual community united by a single ideal. Volunteers from diverse linguistic backgrounds overcame barriers, proving 'we speak different languages, but a single tongue'. Featuring archival materials and direct testimonies from the brigadists, the show offers an immersion into their pedagogical, cultural, and human dimensions. Housed in the barracks of the former Military Museum.

THE VENUE
Perched atop Montjuïc, this fortress began as a watchtower in 1640, during the Guerra dels Segadors, evolving into a defensive outpost. Its current star-shaped, bastioned structure is the result of 18th-century modernization by Juan Martín Cermeño. Beyond its military engineering, the Castell has witnessed pivotal historical moments, controlling the city and serving as a political prison. Today, municipally managed, its walls host exhibitions and cultural activities, transforming it into a space of memory and offering elevated views of the urban grid and the Mediterranean.
