The Planns tip
Ask at Can Portabella if they've extended the inner courtyard's hours; it's great for stretching legs before dance.
THE VENUE
Located in the Sant Andreu neighborhood, Casal de Barri Can Portabella occupies the 19th-century manor house of the former textile factory of the same name. Known as 'Casa de l'Amo,' the building was renovated by architect Josep Bunyesc and reopened in 2016. The project preserved three of its façades and distinctive elements like the structural core of the lobby, featuring arches and a circular pillar. It's Catalonia's first public 'Passive House' certified building, notable for its positive energy balance. It serves as a hub for community engagement and citizen participation in the neighborhood.
