"MURMURIS". Twelve Speculative Actions for the Thirtieth Year

November marks MACBA's thirtieth anniversary. This proposal, featuring twelve speculative actions, looks beyond the museum's institutional memory. It focuses on the aspirations, the desires, the energy of Barcelona's artistic scene that envisioned and made its creation possible in 1995. "Murmuris" explores the constitutive power of rumor: a seemingly trivial word-of-mouth that shares cultural experiences and references. It's the force of anonymous tales, the aura of mystery surrounding stolen works, unreleased albums, censored films. A poetics that defies solemnity, appealing to the unfinished, the undocumented, the unrealized. Over twelve months, the program unfolds live proposals. Some revisit historical actions, already legendary, such as the collective rituals by Antoni Miralda, Dorothée Selz, Joan Rabascall, Jaume Xifra, and Benet Rossell between 1969 and 1973. Also, the enigmatic out-of-tune Bach sonata conceived by Carles Santos and Pere Portabella during their clandestine confinement in La Modelo prison. Curated by Sabel Gavaldon and Alicia Escobio.
