The museum in Girona's old town opens for free on the first Sunday of every month. Through its themed rooms and collections, the center traces the history and the lives that have shaped the city over time.
The Planns tip
The hours allow for a slow walk through the rooms; since it is a self-guided visit, spend extra time in the photo archive.
The venue
The Girona History Museum occupies the former Sant Antoni convent on Carrer de la Força, tracing a chronological path from Roman Gerunda to the democratic transition. Its rooms incorporate medieval wall remains, vaulted cellars, and a cistern preserved since 1762.
