The venue
Palau Güell is Antoni Gaudí's first major work in Barcelona, built between 1886 and 1890 for the industrialist Eusebi Güell a few metres off the Rambla. Its central hall is crowned by a perforated parabolic dome that filters daylight like a starry sky, and the roof terrace carries the trencadís chimneys that foreshadow everything the architect did later. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984.
