The Posidònia Green Festival takes over Barceloneta beach. This ecological event implements concrete sustainability measures: no plastics, a deposit-and-return system, and waste sorting. It repurposes materials from beach clean-ups for staging, encourages public transport, and prioritizes local suppliers. Integrated into the Festa Major de la Barceloneta, it offers a perspective of the neighbourhood from the sea. Free entry.

Platja de la Barceloneta
Barceloneta: The 18th-Century Enlightened Seafront.
Barceloneta Beach fronts a district with 18th-century roots. Engineers Pròsper Verboom and Juan Martín Cermeño laid out its rectilinear grid and uniform buildings to rehouse La Ribera's residents. This Ciutat Vella sector, reclaimed from the sea, shifted from a fishing and industrial hub to a public space after the 1992 Olympic revamp. Today, its 422-meter sand stretch merges with the urban fabric, an extension of Barcelona life, dotted with post-Olympic art that echoes the horizon.
