  • Gran Teatre del Liceu

After forty-three years, La fanciulla del West returns to the Gran Teatre del Liceu. An opera that transcends the Western genre, exploring redemption, forgiveness, and human fragility. Californian gold rush, a frontier saloon, Minnie's ethical code: a stage of tension. Sondra Radvanovsky portrays Minnie, the Polka Saloon manager, alongside Angelo Villari as Dick Johnson and Roman Burdenko as Jack Rance. Nicola Luisotti conducts; Valentina Carrasco directs the stage. Carrasco's production reimagines the Western myth as a metaphor for resistance and freedom. Puccini orchestrates an internal struggle here, with intense vocal lines, motifs revealing pain, hope, a possible future. A 2h 45 min work.
