The work of Lluïsa Casagemas (Barcelona, 1873-1942) arrives at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. After more than a century of oblivion, "Schiava e Regina", an opera composed by Casagemas at sixteen, finds its premiere in concert version. A historical restitution unveiling the first opera by a woman programmed by a major European theatre, its original presentation thwarted by the anarchist attack of 1893. This dramatic and sonorous universe, of broad expressiveness, draws from the Italianate operatic language of the era. The recovery of the handwritten score, preserved with details and dedications, allows musicologists and performers to return the work to the repertoire. Vanessa García Diepa conducts and plays piano. A tribute to silenced voices.
