Escola Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer
Noucentista legacy: From the Exhibition to Escola Verdaguer.
The Escola Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer, located in Poble-sec, chronicles a unique chapter of Barcelona's urban history. Initially built in 1923 as the Royal Pavilion for the 1929 International Exhibition's offices, its design was conceived by Joan Bruguera and later executed, with subsequent remodeling, by Josep Goday. The building showcases a distinctive Noucentista style, evident in its sgraffito facades depicting plant motifs, a work attributed to Francesc Canyelles. Following the Exhibition's closure and amid the neighborhood's growing educational demand, this space was converted into a school in 1931. Today, the center remains an architectural and educational landmark in the Sants-Montjuïc district.
