La Lleialtat Santsenca in the Sants neighborhood hosts 'Ciència entre amigues', a monthly talk series bringing science to women of all ages in a relaxed atmosphere. Each session features a guest expert introducing a current topic, followed by an open conversation to spark curiosity and debate. Entry is free. Sessions include coffee and cookies.
The next talk, Thursday, October 8th at 6:30 PM, is titled 'Onboard Science: a journey to study the Atlantic Ocean'. Maria Vittoria Barbieri, a postdoctoral researcher in emerging contaminants, will share experiences from an oceanographic campaign in the Atlantic, detailing life aboard and marine research.
On Thursday, November 19th, Merlès Martínez, a technician from Ramats de Foc, will present 'Flock of Fire: grazing to manage wildfires'. The talk will address how herds and their shepherds are key to reducing wildfire risks and achieving resilient landscapes against rural abandonment and climate change.
Finally, on Thursday, December 3rd, Jesica Piñón Rodríguez, a physicist and meteorologist, will give 'Meteorological Forecasting'. The session will review the evolution of this field, from manual charts to supercomputers and the influence of artificial intelligence in weather prediction.
