Andris Poga conducts the OBC in a dual program: Pēteris Vasks' introspection with the national premiere of ‘Chant of Gratefulness’, a piece inviting inner listening and silence. In contrast, Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 4 emerges as a radical maelstrom. Composed between 1935 and 1936, it unveils a grotesque, tragic, violent universe, where irony rises relentlessly. An extreme score that demands both orchestra and listener. Two languages, a meeting of tensions.
