Opened in 1833, it pioneered steam engine use for textile production and cast iron machinery, propelling Catalonia's modernization. Its presence reshaped the neighborhood's urban and economic landscape, forging a vibrant industrial hub. Yet, its innovative model met social unrest, tragically burning down during the 1835 'bullangues' – an event underscoring the tensions of Barcelona's nascent industrial era.
