A walking tour through the settings of "The Shadow of the Wind," Carlos Ruiz Zafón's acclaimed novel. Follow Daniel Sempere's footsteps through the Gothic and Born's historic streets and iconic squares, uncovering the 20th-century Barcelona that inspired the author. The route starts at Rambla de Santa Mònica and ends at Plaça Santa Anna, passing through sites like Plaça Reial, Carrer Llibreteria, Santa Maria del Mar, and El Xampanyet. A two-and-a-half-hour journey to connect with fiction and the city.
The Planns tip
Rambla de Santa Mònica has a discreet entrance to Arts Santa Mònica, the tour's meeting point.
THE VENUE
At the southern end of La Rambla, Arts Santa Mònica occupies a former convent dating back to 1636, declared a national monument in 1984. Architects David and Albert Viaplana's 1988 intervention transformed the building, honoring its original cloister while adding a distinctive exterior ramp that interacts with the street's buzz. This multidisciplinary cultural hub operates as a space for encounter and experimentation, far from the traditional museum concept. Its program explores the intersection of art, science, and thought, with a special focus on digital culture and innovation born in Catalonia, offering a platform for contemporary creation and public discourse.
