Underground Gaudí: The secret bond of L'Obrera Mataronesa offers a walk through the Nau Gaudí in Mataró. Built in 1883 for the L'Obrera Mataronesa cooperative, this structure remains the first preserved project by Antoni Gaudí. Originally designed as a cotton bleaching hall, the space reveals the technical and structural origins of his later work. The staged tour examines the relationship between the architect and the cooperative collective through the remnants of 19th-century industrial legacy.
The Planns tip

The venue

Nau Gaudí
The first Gaudí. Parabolic arches, contemporary art.
Nau Gaudí, in Mataró, is Antoni Gaudí's first preserved building, a bleach factory for the Cooperativa Obrera Mataronense where he experimented with parabolic arches. This constructive solution, which would define his future work, today houses the Bassat Collection of Catalan art from the post-war period.
