At the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem offers an exploration between the sacred and the profane. A composition in memory of Alessandro Manzoni, it transcends funerary liturgy to delve into extreme passions, violent contrasts, sonic complexities. The work builds upon a dialogue between life and death, piety and transgression. The «Dies Irae» confronts terror, the «Lacrimosa» offers serenity. Choir and orchestra, conflict and complicity, create a landscape of constant tension. Verdi's music, with its emotional architecture, addresses the ineffable: it places the listener at the threshold of mystery, where fear and transcendence meet. This interpretation features a cast of soloists: soprano Lise Davidsen, mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina, tenor Freddie De Tommaso, and bass Christian Van Horn. The Gran Teatre del Liceu Choir, directed by Pablo Assante, alongside the Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Nicola Luisotti, complete this immersive artistic proposal.
