Dipòsit del Rei Martí
Submerged architecture, rediscovered.
Nestled in Bellesguard, the Dipòsit del Rei Martí is a 19th-century infrastructure. This vast rainwater cistern, linked to a historic mine, was rediscovered in 2001 after decades of oblivion. Its interior reveals a hypostyle hall: seven longitudinal naves and thirty pillars support semi-circular arches and Catalan brick vaults, a testament to hydraulic engineering. Archikubik's rehabilitation (2014-2016) transformed it into a cultural space, preserving its structure and earning recognition at the Venice Biennale. Its name evokes the nearby Torre Bellesguard and King Martí l'Humà.
