The venue
In the heart of Provençals del Poblenou, the Former Can Ricart Textile Printing Factory stands as a landmark of Catalan industrialization. Built between 1852 and 1855, it pioneered mechanical cotton printing in Catalunya. Its architecture, designed by Josep Oriol i Bernadet, showcases a functional neoclassical style, highlighted by a Neo-Romanesque clock tower and an exposed brick chimney. Declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest, the complex today intertwines its history with the cultural and academic present of the 22@ district. It hosts Hangar, a center for artistic research and production, and is set to become a knowledge hub with the expansion of the Universitat de Barcelona, while also incorporating residential adaptations that revitalize its old warehouses.
