The venue
Nestled in the heart of Dreta de l'Eixample, Casa Calvet stands as an Antoni Gaudí masterpiece, built between 1898 and 1900. Commissioned by textile industrialist Pere Màrtir Calvet, its design cleverly merged commercial and residential spaces. Known for its symmetrical facade and a style some critics deem his most restrained, the building showcases a unique blend of Modernisme with Baroque influences. Details like the cotton bobbin-shaped columns at the entrance and the wrought-iron balconies articulate its original purpose. In 1900, Casa Calvet was Gaudí's only award-winning work during his lifetime, honored by the Barcelona City Council. Today, its ground floors house a restaurant and café, while the upper levels remain private residences.
