Casa de la Marina
Post-war social avant-garde, Coderch's mark.
- La BarcelonetaPg Joan Borbó Comte Barcelona 42
The venue
Designed by Josep Antoni Coderch and Manuel Valls (1952-1954), Casa de la Marina stands in Barceloneta as a landmark of post-war Catalan rationalism. Protected as a Cultural Asset of National Interest, this building set a precedent in social housing. Its design features wooden slats and glazed ceramic on a facade that, beyond its aesthetic value, optimizes natural light. It represents an innovative housing solution for the fishermen of its time and a display of 20th-century architectural avant-garde in Barcelona.
