The venue
In the heart of Barcelona's Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample, at Llança 20, stands Casa Fajol, known as the Butterfly House. This modernist building, designed by architect Josep Graner i Prat between 1911 and 1929, features a distinctive crown: a semicircular, polychrome trencadís butterfly that captures the eye. Beyond its sober facade, with wrought-iron balconies and sgraffito in the lobby, Casa Fajol embodies popular modernism. Today, its silhouette, partially obscured by the redevelopment of Las Arenas, transcends architecture to symbolize the resilience of an urban fabric in constant transformation.
