The venue
Nestled in Camp d'en Grassot i Gràcia Nova, Casa Josep Barnoles, popularly known as «La del Mico i el Gos» (The Monkey and Dog House), is a prime example of Barcelona Modernism. Designed by architect Miquel Pascual i Tintorer, its construction finished in 1905. The facade at Camèlies 40 features an axial composition with an entrance portal highlighted by a wrought-iron grille showcasing rose motifs and sinuous lines. Above it, sculptures of a monkey and a dog holding a shield give the building its unique moniker. A continuous balcony with an undulating railing, along with light stucco work featuring floral ornamentation and the year 1905, complete this listed heritage site, telling the aesthetic story of its era.
