Casa Malagrida
Passeig de Gràcia: Andean echoes in Modernista stone.

The venue
Casa Malagrida, at Passeig de Gràcia 27, is a prime example of Catalan Modernisme, built between 1905 and 1908 by architect Joaquim Codina i Matalí. Conceived for Manuel Malagrida, a tobacco industrialist returning from Argentina, its facade blends floral and vegetal aesthetics with unique iconographic elements. Notable features include the Andean condor and a portrait of Bartolomé Mitre, hinting at its patron's transatlantic journey. The black slate dome, topped with a wrought-iron weathervane, and the main facade's bay windows define its striking silhouette. While not open to the public, its presence in Dreta de l'Eixample solidifies the district's bourgeois and architectural character.
