The venue

On Rambla de Catalunya, Casa Serra emerges as an architectural palimpsest of Modernisme. A masterpiece by Josep Puig i Cadafalch (1903-1908), the building boldly blends Plateresque echoes, inspired by the vanished Casa Gralla, with Gothic and Renaissance details. Its stone facades showcase sculptures by Arnau and Juyol, featuring busts of Cervantes, Fortuny, and Wagner. Declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest, this monument transformed from a residence to the headquarters of the Diputació de Barcelona. The 1981 addition of a contemporary volume on Diagonal created a striking contrast, defining its urban singularity and ongoing reinterpretation.
