The venue
In the heart of Sant Andreu, where Passeig Torras i Bages carves its path, stood the Artillery Barracks, inaugurated in 1929. This military complex was an epicenter of conflict during the Spanish Civil War, pivotal in the July 1936 uprising and later a Republican stronghold. Following its demolition in 2004, the area underwent significant urban reconfiguration under a plan to connect Sant Andreu and Trinitat. Today, the zone redefines itself as a civic hub, integrating public housing, social facilities, and green spaces—a tangible stratification of its military past and its present as a vital neighborhood fabric.
