Castell dels Tres Dragons
Brick and iron: foundational Modernisme.

The venue
Erected by Lluís Domènech i Montaner between 1887 and 1888, the Castell dels Tres Dragons marked the prelude to Catalan Modernisme. Originally conceived as a café-restaurant for the 1888 Universal Exposition, its structure blends exposed brick and wrought iron, with battlements and four towers evoking a medieval fortress. Its popular name comes from a play by Serafí Pitarra. After the Exposition, the building housed an applied arts workshop, and later the Museum of Zoology. Today, it serves as the scientific hub for the Museu de Ciències Naturals, safeguarding collections and centralizing research. An architectural landmark in Parc de la Ciutadella.
