THE VENUE
The Open Penitentiary Center 2, in La Trinitat Vella, Sant Andreu, stands as the remnant of the La Trinitat Women's Prison. Opened in 1963, it was Catalonia's first women's prison — a Francoist tool for the 're-education' of common and political prisoners. Its then-modern design with spacious interiors, however, concealed the repression and indoctrination of the Evangelical Crusades. After 1983, it transformed into a youth center; today, as an open facility, part of its structure demands recognition as a historical memory space.
