The venue
In the Les Corts district, Colònia Castells recalls a working-class neighborhood built in 1923 for the Castells varnish factory workers. This enclave, characterized by single-story houses with small gardens, created a rural microcosm within a growing Barcelona. It became an anarchist stronghold during the Spanish Civil War, housing up to 800 people. Today, after an urban transformation resulting in a public park opened in 2024, Colònia Castells remains a vestige of an industrial and social past. Eleven of its original houses still tell the story of a resilient heritage in the contemporary urban landscape.
