The venue
Plaça de Sóller, the heart of the Porta neighborhood, stands as a testament to community action in Barcelona. Inaugurated in 1983, this square, one of the city's largest, was the result of a decade of local demands against real estate speculation that threatened to turn a vacant lot into a civic space. The intervention shaped an urban park, anchored by Xavier Corberó's sculpture "Homenatge a la Mediterrània". Recent renovations in 2020-2021 have transformed it into a re-naturalized urban ecosystem, featuring a plant-purified lake and gathering areas. It functions as a social hub, connecting pedestrian routes and housing the Ateneu la Bòbila, reflecting civic persistence in Nou Barris.
