The venue
The Edifici Gas Natural, also known as Torre Mare Nostrum, stands at Plaça del Gas 1, in Barceloneta. This posthumous work by Enric Miralles, in collaboration with Benedetta Tagliabue, completed in 2005, redefines Ciutat Vella's skyline. Its 86-meter height is articulated in three interconnected glass volumes, featuring a pronounced cantilever that dialogues with the surrounding urban fabric. The façade, clad with reflective glass, offers a dynamic perception that shifts with light and perspective. This site, once home to the country's first gas factory, anchors the building in the city's industrial history.
