The venue
In the heart of Vila de Gràcia, at Carrer de la Riera de Sant Miquel 39, stands the Escola Josep Maria Jujol. This public school occupies part of what was once the Tallers Manyach factory, commissioned in 1916 by visionary Modernista architect Josep Maria Jujol. A collaborator of Antoni Gaudí, Jujol's avant-garde style shines through in this repurposed industrial structure. After extensive renovation by Bach-Mora Arquitectes, the original factory bays, with their distinctive skylights and serrated buttresses, now house the school's covered courtyard. Repainted in Jujol's signature color palette, the building exemplifies architectural heritage reuse. The site's history, which once included a cemetery and a wash house, intertwines with the neighborhood's industrial and artistic legacy.
