The venue
At the junction of Paseo Sant Joan and Travessera de Gràcia, this sculptural ensemble honors Fray Pedro Ponce de León (16th C) and Juan Pablo Bonet (17th C), pioneers in phonetics and speech therapy. The double-composition work features a white marble sculpture by Josep Miret Llopart (1966) of Ponce de León instructing a deaf child, highlighting tactile methods. An adjacent monolith, designed by Joan Vidal with reliefs by Josep Marquès (1935), completes the tribute. This spot in Camp d'en Grassot i Gràcia Nova offers a moment to reflect on advances in communication and special education.
